2025/10/13: This one has become iffy too. Yesterday it refused to open properly; looking closer, one of the cams had seized to the shaft. Today, with WD40 and some effort I have unseized it and it seems to work; I shall return it to duty but remember its frailty. Incidentally this was sold as a "greedy" cam: the cam angle is somewhat higher than the standard, giving it more range, but in theory less grip.

Old Friends
Some of my climbing gear is quite old; I started buying stuff in ~93, so that's, err, potentially three decades now. And every now and again I think of retiring some of the old stuff. And this friend has now forced my hand: the cams were getting stuck. Even with WD40 on it, one of them refused to unstick, and even with a pair of pliers it was hard to move, and then I noticed that the cam was stuck to the central shaft, which was rotating against the main body, and that's just not right. So, bye-bye faithful cam.
